Freelance Event Coordinators (Johannesburg)

Captain Fanplastic is looking for two experienced freelance event coordinators in the Gauteng region. Do you have a passion for storytelling, cleaning up the environment and building strong networks? If you do, we would like to invite you to hop onboard. But first a few questions.


  • Coordinate Captain Fanplastic School Programme with school principals and teachers
  • Read the story 'The Legend of Captain Fanplastic' to the learners and teach them about plastic pollution
  • Lead the creation of plastic trash into treasure that relate to the story
  • Coordinate the treasure hunt (clean-up) at selected venue
  • Conduct and collate literacy survey
  • Client liaison during the event


  • Tertiary education diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in working with primary school kids
  • Environmentally aware, especially relating to plastic pollution
  • SA driving licence

skills & experience

  • Presentation & storytelling
  • Fluent in English and IsiXhosa/Zulu/Sotho/Venda
  • South African nationality
  • Computer literate (Powerpoint & Microsoft Word)
  • Digital content creation (FB, IG TW)
  • Proactive and Adaptable
  • Independent and Enthusiastic
  • Comfortable leading groups (40-100 people)
  • Fun and easy to get along with


The job is an event by event basis and will involve schools in the Gauteng region.
